Compose operator troubleshooting
This page is for the qualified one-host Docker Compose deployment. It does not apply to the local development stack in the NetBox demo tutorial; keep that route's troubleshooting in its NetBox demo tutorial.
Start with the deployment state
Run the status procedure first. A refusal names
its family and explains the next correction; DEGRADED and STOPPED describe
different operational states. Use the log procedure
for bounded, redacted service output.
If a configuration validation reports a finding, use its stable code to find the meaning in the finding-code reference. The message wording can change; the code is the dependable lookup key.
Recover the deployment deliberately
Use the stop, restart, and reset procedure to select the least disruptive action. A restart keeps durable records; reset is destructive and requires the displayed instance identity. When a reset is the right choice, use the replacement procedure rather than treating it as an upgrade.
Reconcile before retrying writes
When a write might have reached the destination, do not repeat it. Follow the uncertain-write reconciliation procedure: read the run record, inspect the destination, and create a fresh plan. This is the operator route for a Compose deployment; it does not authorize local adapter execution.
